Teresa Howard was elected as Chorus Director of Southern Acappella Sound Chorus ("SASC"), effective July 23, 2018. Teresa has been a member of Sweet Adelines since 2004, with SASC since January 2018, having served as co-assistant director under Karla Callaway, SASC's Interim Director since October 2017. Teresa served for eight years as an assistant director of the Ruston chorus, Piney Hills Harmony Chorus ("PHHC"), under the direction of two different chorus directors, where she also served on the Music Team, Board of Directors. She has experience in various leadership positions in both choruses, including Section Leader and Choreography Team. |
Teresa sang Lead in registered quartets, "Take 4 Quartet" and "Four His Glory Quartet." She served as the "fifth ear" for “Sweet Harmony Quartet,” where Teresa says, "I enjoyed learning the craft of barbershop quartetting and the sweet fellowship of singing sisters."
Teresa is a Speech Pathologist, practicing in the Monroe area since 1985. Teresa says she loves serving her clients. She also is in Bible Study Fellowship since 2006, and has served in a leadership capacity for the last few years.
Teresa and her husband Ron Howard three grandchildren, Molly, Lyla, and Brennon. Ron has a grown son, David (and his wife Amber), and Teresa has a grown son, Andrew. Teresa and Ron have a "feisty" rescue cat named Max.
Teresa welcomes the challenge of guiding SASC ladies on a fun and rewarding experience in the craft of singing barbershop harmony, and invites any lady who enjoys singing to visit a rehearsal and see how it feels to sing precise four-part harmony in the unique art form of barbershop harmony!
